Employment Terms

1. EVALUATION- an act or instance of evaluating or appraising
2. ASSESSMENTS -The act of assessing; appraisal.
3. BACKGROUND CHECK-Used by employers to verify the accuracy of the information you provide on you resume or job application -- and beyond.
4. BENEFITS- A wage agreement, an insurance policy, or a public assistance program.
5. COLD CALL- Telephone call to a prospective customer without an appointment or a previous introduction.
6. COMPENSATION PACKAGE-The combination of salary and fringe benefits an employer provides to an employee.
7. GROSS PAY-Is the pay you get before taxes.
8. FICA- Federal Insurance Contributions Act: U.S. government legislation under which taxes are levied for the support of Social Security.
9. OSHA- Occupational health and safety rules.
10. NET PAY-The remaining amount after deductions from the gross salary
